Truck driver to stand trial over horror highway crash

A WELLINGTON Point truck driver will stand trial over the 2014 death of a motorist on the Warrego Highway at Hattonvale.

Mark Neill Ridley, 40, was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing the death of Linda Elliott, 33, a year after the horror crash.

Ms Elliott was killed on March 3, 2014 after her car was crushed between a truck she was following and a B-double fuel tanker.

Mr Ridley's legal representative told Ipswich District Court on Tuesday the defence was still waiting on witness statements, including several from police officers.

She said she wanted it placed on the record the defence had requested a full disclosure of all the evidence ahead of the trial.

Crown prosecutor Ryder Reid told the court the statements would be made available this week.

He said up to 26 witnesses would be called to give evidence at the trial and it could last between three and four days.

Judge Greg Koppenol said the court would take a very dim view if the information requested was not provided.

Judge Koppenol listed the trial for the week commencing April 26.
