Man trapped in vehicle after car hits cow on highway

A 40-YEAR-OLD man was trapped in his vehicle after hitting a cow and crashing on the Burnett Highway near Eidsvold about 10pm last night.

Firefighters worked to free the man before paramedics treated him for head, shoulder and neck injuries.

The patient was first taken to Eidsvold Hospital by ambulance, before being airlifted by a rescue helicopter to Bundaberg Hospital.

He was in a stable condition for both legs of transport.

The accident was the third reported crash since March that involved livestock in the region.

An 80-year-old woman was injured last month after her car hit a cow on the Wide Bay Highway at Kilkivan.

A Monto local hit a cow in March while driving on a main road in his four-wheel-drive.

The driver escaped without injury but the front of his vehicle suffered extensive damage.
