Man who crashed car was two times alcohol limit

A FITTER and turner has pleaded guilty to drink driving following a crash at Homebush.

In the Mackay Magistrates Court, prosecutor Sergeant Jakki Poustie said that emergency services were called to the crash just before midnight on August 28, 2016.

Nicholas Matthew Crowley, 20, had crashed into a cane warning sign, which had fallen over.

Crowley was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with some injuries. Tests showed his blood alcohol level was 0.113%, more than two times the legal limit.

Magistrate Nerida Wilson said Crowley had no traffic history other than a few speeding tickets.

Crowley was disqualified from driving for five months and fined $500.
