Man who left twin brother behind in prison swap recaptured

A PERUVIAN man who drugged his brother to escape jail has been recaptured, more than a year after abandoning his brother to serve time in his place.

Alexander Delgado was serving time for sexual violation of a minor according to the Peruvian Interior Ministry.

BBC reported Delgado drugged his twin during a visit in January 2017 and left him behind in the notorious prison.

The BBC said the ruse was suspected, and confirmed when Delgado's brother was fingerprinted.

The Ministry announced on February 13 that Delgado had been recaptured in Callao, a coastal district close to the city of Lima.

He had escaped from the Peidras Gordas prison, one district over from the home where he was found.
