Mayor welcomes a fresh face to lead our council

A NEW face will be moving to the North Burnett region after Mayor Rachel Chambers advised that the appointment of a new council chief executive officer was finalised.

Cr Chambers is pleased to welcome Gary Rinehart to the council.

"It is my pleasure to inform the North Burnett community that at a Special Meeting on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 Council unanimously resolved to appoint Mr Gary Rinehart as its new chief executive officer after an exhaustive search across Australia and a comprehensive search to find the right person for the job,” Cr Chambers said.

Mr Rinehart is currently an advisor to the mayor and chief executive officer at Isaac Regional Council.

Cr Chambers said Mr Rinehart had extensive experience in both the private sector and local government, with particular strengths in leadership, strategic planning, team development, finance, project and contract management as well as human resources.

"Gary's understanding that local government works for the community, his belief that we can do things differently in order to improve our assets and service delivery and his refreshing approach to organisational strategies and advocacy, were all things council had been pursuing in the filling of this position,” Cr Chambers said.

Mr Rinehart will commence duties with the council on Thursday August 30, in the same week as the new general manager works, Johan Louw starts.

"I am very excited about this appointment and I look forward to working with Gary to achieve positive outcomes for the community,” Cr Chambers said.
