Members recognised for service to emergency services
THE North Burnett SES Unit nabbed two awards at Sunday's Regional SES Week Awards at Gympie.
North Burnett SES Controller Brian Lowe said both Biggenden's Kerri-Anne Cretney and Eidsvold's Trevor Tyler received awards for outstanding service to the SES over many years.
"Kerri-Anne joined the Biggenden SES group in 2011 and Trevor joined Eidsvold the year before,” he said.
"Over the years both have been of great value to their respective groups and also to the North Burnett SES unit.”
He said, Kerri-Anne who was unable to attend, has moved through the ranks and is currently the Biggenden SES Group Leader.
"Kerri has been a huge asset to the Biggenden SES group and rarely has she not responded to an emergency call out,” he said.
"She has the qualifications within the SES to that of a Field Officer and her dedication to her group and to her role is appreciated by all members.”
Mr Lowe said Trevor is a Senior Field Officer and has been a strong and reliable member to the Eidsvold SES group.
"On several occasions he has been sent on deployment to other Queensland areas struck by cyclones, played a huge role within the Eidsvold SES group during the 2010/2011 floods”, he said.
"More recently, although battling a serious illness he has continued to make himself available for all emergency call-outs.”
Members who received Meritorious awards for years of service included Matthew Anderson (Eidsvold) for 10 years and Mundubbera Group leader Graeme Newman, (Mundubbera) who received a National Plaque for 40 years.
"I applaud the winners and thank them all for their service to the North Burnett SES unit and to their respective SES groups,” he said.
