Mine worker injured after becoming trapped in conveyor belt

A BOWEN BASIN mine worker in his 20s was airlifted to Townsville Hospital after a serious incident at Collinsville this week.

It's believed he's since been flown to Princess Alexander in Brisbane.

The mine worker, aged 23, fell onto a conveyor belt at Glencore's Collinsville Open Cut mine and become trapped suffering leg and spine injuries.

The man had to be released by rescue crews and was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Glencore have launched an investigation into the incident.

Collinsville Open Cut is Queensland's oldest coal mine and produces a variety of coking and steaming coal products for both overseas and domestic markets.
