Mitchell's cancer battle inspires brother to study medicine

MITCHELL Luders was a passionate Pokemon fan known for his humour and quirky style.

When he was nine, he was diagnosed with one of the most rare and aggressive forms of childhood cancer.

His battle was shared by the Gladstone community and when the Make a Wish Foundation couldn't grant Mitchell's wish of a trip to Japan; UGL construction donated $10,000 so Mitchell and his family could see where Pokémon was created.

After his four-year long battle, Mitchell died at his family home in August.

His older brother Dylan is now in his third year at Griffith University studying biomedical science in the hopes he can help children like Mitchell.
