Monto blasts cricket competition

CRICKET: Monto State School won both the girls and boys division at the Central Burnett district competition of Woolworths Cricket Blast, played in Mundubbera today at Mundubbera State School.

Primary school aged children from Mundubbera, Monto and Gayndah competed for the chance to progress to the area final that will be held at Yandina Cricket Club on November 9.

Regional development manager Sam Curtis said that it was the first time that a Woolworths Cricket Blast carnival was held in Queensland.

Students participated in four 45 minutes during the day.

During the day all children participating had the chance to bat, bowl and field.

Students had fun during the day both on and off the field with many children dancing to the music, making for a party atmosphere.

"The day was a great success," Mr Curtis said.

There were many close games on the day with one game coming down to just one run.

Monto State School will now have the opportunity to play against other schools at Yandina.
