Monto dominates Football Biloela season awards
MONTO Soccer Club dominated the Football Biloela & District season awards with six of the eight awards going to the men and women in blue.
"It has been a fantastic year for soccer in Monto,” club secretary Melinda Clarke said.
Both the U14B Strikers and U16 Mavericks were awarded minor premiers after finishing the regular season on top of the league.
The Strikers went on to win their grand final 2-3, claiming the league's champion's trophy, while the Mavericks went down 2-3 in penalties after a 1-1 scoreline during regular time.
Rising soccer star Aylah Sinclair was the U14 player of the year, while Matthew Baldwin, who backed up for the Mavericks, was U14 player of the final.
"The referee's choice for player of the final was one of the hardest to decide all season with a well-deserving Matthew Baldwin taking home the trophy,” Strikers coach Tyrone O'Reilly said.
"The referee's player of the year was also well contested with our amazing midfielder Aylah Sinclair taking out the honour for the season
Blake Barnett was the U16 player of the final.
"Blake Barnett the Maverick's captain led by example throughout, which saw him deservedly win the under 16 player of the final,” coaches Peter and Natasha Howlett said.
Barnett also won the Mavericks Player of the Year at the club's season presentation on Tuesday evening.
Nakayla Myles won the encouragement award, while Declan Howlett was the Mavericks' golden boot.
Isaac Green was the Strikers' player of the year, alongside Aylah Sinclair, while Harley Fitzpatrick claimed the encouragement award.
