Monto Neighbourhood Centre has been included in the budget

VULNERABLE people in the Monto region will be better supported thanks to a funding boost for the Monto Neighbourhood Centre in the 2016-17 State Budget.

Communities Minister Shannon Fentiman said the new funding was part of the Palaszczuk Government's $6.9 million Neighbourhood Centre Investment Strategy.

Monto Neighbourhood Centre Service will have its 2016/17 Budget increase by $8,756, as well as have a new Community Connect worker join the staff ranks.

The new Community Connect worker will receive $110,000 per year for salary and on-costs.

An additional $15,000 per year will be allocated to each worker in the form of brokerage funds to help individuals and families to access services, support and assistance in a crisis

"Community Connect workers will enhance and support our local neighbourhood and community centres so they can continue their vital work," Ms Fentiman said.
