Monto's thirsty thieves are not thirsty anymore
TWO individuals have been arrested for allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars of rum from the Monto Combined Sportsgrounds clubhouse.
A 15-year-old male and 17-year-old male were charged on April 19 with a break and enter offence.
Monto Police Senior Constable Ron Mientjes said information from the public and police investigation helped lead to the perpetrators.
"They are both Monto locals," he said.
"They were charged by detectives from Kingaroy Stock Squad in conjunction with Monto Police."
The break-in into the Monto Combined Sportsgrounds clubhouse happened between April 4 and 7, where 12 bottles of rum were stolen.
"The total cost damage was worth about $600," Snr Const Mientjes said.
"They took a carton containing 12 bottles of Bundaberg rum, and did damage to the door."
An alleged break-in attempt at a residence on Lodge St followed.
"Police believe it was the same offenders but they were unable to gain entry to the house," Snr Const Mientjes said.
The charged individuals will appear in Monto Magistrates Court on June 29.
