More riders are galloping in
HORSE AND PONY: The Mundubbera Horse and Pony Club ran its July rally day away from the showgrounds this month and opened the gates to new members and other clubs.
The day was held at president Emma Muirhead's property Twin Rivers and proved to be a huge success with 20 riders from Mundubbera, Gayndah and surrounding areas.
Riders had the opportunity to partake in a range of disciplines including showjumping, mechanical cow, dressage and gymkhana novelty events.
As well as their usual instructors, riders were fortunate to gain some tips and new skills under the watchful eye of Adam Mellers, two time World Cup Show jumping champion.
Secretary Michelle Chicken said the event was a success with a good turn out of riders.
"The change of scenery was great. Both kids and parents had a fun and social day whilst taking home some new riding skills,” Chicken said.
"This is what we really want the Mundubbera club to be all about.
"The venue, the weather and level of instruction was terrific.
"As organisers we couldn't be happier and we really look forward to hosting a similar event soon.”
The Mundubbera Horse and Pony Club meets once a month. The club has some exciting events coming up including a trail ride camp over the September school holidays and youth campdrafting clinic in November.
Emma Muirhead said they had a lot of young talent coming through at the horse and pony club.
"We have a wealth of strong and experienced competitors in our local district that are keen to see the next generation of riders coming through and do it well,” Muirhead said.
"Let's take advantage of these people to share their knowledge with our kids.”
