Mundubbera names its Miss Showgirl
HANNAH Allan has been named Mundubbera's Miss Showgirl for 2017.
Born in Mundubbera, Ms Allan attended the Boynewood State School before moving to Toowoomba for boarding school.
Interested in being a voice for woman in the rural community led Ms Allan to nominate herself for the competition.
"I just really wanted to give back to the community, Mundubbera is a great place and the shows are a way to debrief with everyone, they're diverse as well,” Ms Allan said.
"As the showgirl winner I will be a voice for rural youth, I will encourage them to not give up and I will support them.”
Winning Mundubbera Miss Showgirl was not on the cards for Ms Allan.
"Up against two other girls who are involved within the community was difficult, I didn't think I'd win, the girls knew a lot about their community,” Ms Allan said.
"I am very honoured.”
Ms Allan completed a certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is now studying a Bachelor of Nursing/Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
"It's a three year degree and I'm currently in my first year and really enjoying it,” Ms Allan said.
"When I finish my degree I hope to go back rural and help out and maybe down the track may resume with more studies in radiography, but right now it's just studying.”
"I believe learning is very important and should be encouraged.”
Ms Allan loves being outdoors and partaking in water skiing activities.
"I enjoy going to national parks, camping, bike riding, water-skiing and travelling,” she said.
Ms Allan was crowned the winner at Wonderland After Dark earlier this month.
