No Doha medal for Hosking

CYCLING: Canberra's Chloe Hosking could not match the sprinters and has finished seventh in the women's road race at the world championships in Doha.

Amalie Dideriksen of Denmark won the almost 135km race in a close sprint, nudging favourite Kirsten Wild (Netherlands). Finland's Lotta Lepisto was third.

Hosking thanked her team but said "in the end, I didn't finish it off”.

Hosking's teammates Tiffany Cromwell (48th), Katrin Garfoot (51st), Lauren Kitchen (69th), Gracie Elvin (92nd) and Sarah Roy (99th) battled to the end. Loren Rowney did not finish.
