North Burnett Mayor outlines Federal Election priorities

NORTH Burnett Mayor Rachel Chambers says she is ready to work with whoever wins the seat of Flynn following the election.

"I'm sure we will both have the region's needs at heart and we will work closely together," Cr Chambers said.

Cr Chambers said she would like to see the candidates being proactive for the region, especially around telecommunications.

"For our region to progress and be able to compete on a level playing field, we must be able to bring our transport and telecommunications networks up to a level other regions take for granted," she said.

"Our black spots need seriously addressing - the status quo is not good enough.

"Our businesses, educational facilities and individuals are losing competitiveness and being restricted in various ways due to not being globally connected."

Following a number of natural disasters in recent years, Cr Chambers said she hoped the elected government would maintain its commitment to recovery funding.

Cr Chambers also called for the Federal Government to ensure the region receives a fair return of its tax revenue.
