Our young athletes on track to state
SEVEN Burnett State College students have been selected to represent Wide Bay at state athletics after placing at the Wide Bay trials in Bundaberg.
Sarah Duncan, Riley Drayton, Matthew Zipf, Chelsey Larner, Callum Evans and Elizabeth Strong will compete in Brisbane next month while Travis Larner will compete in Cairns next month as well as Canberra in November with the Queensland softball team.
Speaking of the six students who will compete in Brisbane next month, Burnett State College sports co-ordinator Chris Rodwell said while having so many students make the Wide Bay team was fantastic, having all six finish first or second was an amazing feat.
"This is obviously a result of their hard work and motivation to succeed in their chosen sporting field,” he said.
"Some of these student train every week or sometimes several times a week with family, other students or trainers to help them do well and this has been evident by their current results."
