$180 million painting found in attic
ART experts believe a painting found in the attic of a French house two years ago could be a genuine Caravaggio work worth about $180 million.
The picture, which depicts Biblical heroine Judith beheading an Assyrian general, is thought to have been painted by the Italian artist in 1604 or 1605. It was reportedly found by the owners of the house, near Toulouse, after they broke down an attic door to investigate a water leak.
A statement from the Eric Turquin art agency said the painting had all the hallmarks of the great artist.
