ENGINEER Felicity Furey wasn't great at maths in school or at university, but she stuck with it and her hard work rewarded her a successful career in engineering.

That was her message to students at Gayndah airport this morning - if you're not naturally great at something, work hard at it and you will be.

She joined former Gayndah resident Dr Jillian Kenny, engineer and inventor Steve Gale and former flight instructor for the Republic of Singapore Air Force Willie Chew as they flew into Gayndah in fighter jets.

Their aim was to inspire students, particularly young women, to consider a career in STEM and aviation.
