Point Break? Monster 7m waves wow Victorian surfers
THESE are the waves to remember.
They are rolling into along Victoria's south-west coastline, as tall as 11m -- about the size of a small multi-storey building -- pushed along by 110kmh winds.
Unfortunately those are not making it to shore, with local surfers having to make do with waves of between 5m and 7m.
The swells are likely to calm in coming days but will ramp up early next week to 7m.
The average size of waves in Victoria is about 2.5m.
Swellnet's Craig Brokensha told ABC that this was no place for amateur surfers.
Looks like a potentially great weekend for #surfing on Victoria's coast! #waveshttps://t.co/IYZT7XD1sb pic.twitter.com/fnJTEcl8wI
