Police examining DNA in Bellbird Park rape case

A BELLBIRD Park man accused of raping a 17-year-old woman 20 years ago has had his case adjourned until the end of June.

A Brisbane magistrate on Monday ordered the 51-year-old man, who is on bail, to return to the same court on June 27.

The case was delayed longer than normal to allow police more time to examine DNA samples collected from the accused earlier this year.

The man is charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count each of rape, assault with intent to commit rape and deprivation of liberty.

The charges related to an alleged assault in Woolloongabba on March 31, 1996. - ARM NEWSDESK
