Police hunting blue ute used in shed break-in

DARLING Downs police are searching for a blue ute with a broken tail light believed to have been used in a recent stealing offence.

Police believe sometime between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday, March 15, a shed has been broken into on Pacholke Rd at Spring Creek.

The property owner returned home about 4pm and noticed some plastic material, believed to be a piece of a broken tail light, on the ground near a shed post.

While the resident thought it was out of place, they continued unpacking the groceries and went inside the house.

About 5.30pm that evening, the resident has done back to at the light near the post again at which time they discovered all but a small piece of the debris had disappeared.

They then proceeded into the shed to cover their car for the night and found one of the car doors ajar and the glove box open.

A bad with a cordless drill and three hand tools, and various other items, were missing.

Police believe a vehicle has been driven to the shed in order to steal some large items, and officers are now searching for a blue utility, possible a Ford XR6 or similar with a chrome roll bar at the rear window, was seen in the area around the time of the offence.

Paint left at the scene was a blue-grey colour, and the vehicle involved in the theft would have a busted rear drivers' side tail light and paint scraped off in that area.

Police believe the tail light casing would also be damaged.

Police are calling for the public to assist them in identifying the vehicle and its owner.
