Public service jobs inflating Qld's healthy job figures

THE thousands of new jobs Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has taken credit for since the last election are mostly made up of the state and federal governments' ballooning public service.

The Courier-Mail can reveal more than three-quarters of the state's new jobs over the past two-and-a-half years have gone to taxpayer-funded bureaucrats.

Federal Employment Minister Michaelia Cash accused Ms Palaszczuk of misleading Queenslanders by talking up the jobs figures, saying there had been a "minuscule increase in private sector jobs".

Ms Palaszczuk recently praised "Labor's positive economic plan" which had "driven growth, boosted confidence, attracted investment, increased exports and generated jobs".
