REVEALED: Development projects bringing stimulus to region

TEN council approved projects are set to be submitted for Federal Government funding of almost $3 million.

The two funding programs called the Drought Communities Programme Extension and the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program have been created to stimulate the region's economy, create jobs, and have a lasting economic impact on the North Burnett.

At the North Burnett Regional Council's last general meeting on July 22, several projects were approved to be submitted for the Federal Government's funding. 

Under the Drought Communities Programme Extension $1,000,000 has been allocated for three primary projects, which include:

- Increase accessibility to regional level parks in Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mt Perry and Mundubbera where possible, includes all-abilities play equipment ($560,000)

- Potable water dispensers for Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mt Perry, and Mundubbera ($250,000)

- Project management projects ($50,000)

If there are surplus funds available, the next priority projects are:

- Monto Sports Complex main field irrigation ($70,000)

- Archer Park Sports Complex main field irrigation upgrade $70,000)

The Locals Roads and Community Infrastructure Program funding, valued at $1,851,438, has been submitted for the following projects:

- Bridge safety maintenance program

- Road reseal program

- Pavement rehabilitation program

- Footpath safety program

- High risk unsealed roads program

All programs underneath the Drought Communities Programme Extension must be delivered by December 31, 2020.

The programs underneath the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program are to be delivered by June 30, 2021.
