ROB Mills is the newest member to join stage super-group Swing On This.

The musical theatre performer and former Australian Idol finalist will bring something new to the ranks as founding member Matt Lee (So You Think You Can Dance Australia) prepares to travel to the UK later this month to star in the musical Mary Poppins.

"We just get up on stage and have a laugh and get to perform great tracks and take the mickey out of each other," Lee told APN.

"We genuinely get along... It's awesome to have Rob come on board."

Mills and Lee shared the stage at a private function in Noosa last night alongside fellow members Ben Mingay, Luke Kennedy and Michael Falzon.

"Rather than putting together a boy band it's about mates coming together and having a sing," Falzon said.

"With Matt leaving we were thinking what are we going to do? The strength of this show is based on individual personalities and everyone brings something different."

Mills has enjoyed a successful career on the stage, most recently starring in Grease The Musical.

Swing On This was created for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival last year and the group hopes to schedule more public shows later this year.

The show sees the leading men, and the occasional special guest, perform their take on classic swing and rock songs backed by a full 18-piece band.

The show's line-up is designed to be fluid to fit into the performers' busy schedules and solo projects.
