Rossi in hospital after training accident

NINE-time world MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi is in hospital in Italy after a motocross accident on Thursday.

The Italian's Yamaha team said the 38-year-old, who is third in the top class, had been diagnosed with "mild thoracic and abdominal trauma" after the training accident in eastern Italy.

"No fractures have been detected in any part of the body and no serious traumatic pathologies were found," the team said.
