Sayers shines as Redbacks thrash Tigers in Shield
CRICKET: South Australian paceman Chadd Sayers has continued to put up his hand for Test selection after routing Tasmania for a second time in the Sheffield Shield.
The Redbacks won by an innings and 94 runs at the Adelaide Oval, the Tigers dismissed for 289 after making just 98 in their first dig.
Outshining teammate and Australian squad member Joe Mennie, Sayers finished with match figures of 11-76, his 5-44 coming on the back of 6-32 on day one.
Queensland also fell to an innings defeat inside three days at the MCG, Victoria restricting the Bulls to just 199 - still 81 runs short of making the Bushrangers bat again.
Marnus Labuschagne (70) and keeper Chris Hartley (34no) offered the only real resistance against the hosts, who were best served with the ball by spinner Jon Holland (4-46).
New South Wales was in the box seat to record a win over Western Australia on Monday at the SCG.
