Shaynna's lighting designs on the line

INTERIOR designer Shaynna Blaze takes viewers inside her creative world for the first time.

While the TV presenter is known as a judge on The Block and a miracle worker for struggling homeowners on Selling Houses Australia, Blaze's bread and butter is her own interior design business.

In a two-part special for Foxtel, cameras follow Blaze on a round-the-world trip as she gathers design inspiration for her own signature range of interior lights for her debut in the US market.

"A lot of people forget I still have my own design business, but you can't do The Block and Selling Houses without the backup of everything you work hard for," Blaze tells APN.

"This is a snapshot of my world of what I do and how I get my inspiration."

The special sees Blaze travel to design capitals of Milan, Venice and New York as well as her hometown of Melbourne to explore the latest design trends.

The mother-of-two found inspiration in everything from whiskey glasses to architecture and recycled materials.

"You just see how the world accepts it, if you over think it then you may not be able to produce anything," she says.

The makeover master admits, though, to having nerves about her American debut at the Atlanta Trade Fair.

"I am putting myself out there where nobody knows who I am," she says.

"I didn't see all of the prototypes before they made it to the trade show, so I was quite scared what might turn up. I was afraid I wouldn't have anything to display.

"It was very humbling to be accepted and have people say, 'This is really good; we haven't seen this before'."

Next year will also see Blaze star in her own pay-TV series, Deadline Design, as well as the ninth season of Selling Houses Australia.

Shaynna's World of Design premieres tomorrow at 7.30pm Qld, 8.30pm NSW on Foxtel's LifeStyle HOME.
