Worker discovers shotgun, knife stash in "laptop bag"

POLICE want to know as much as they can about a sawn-off shotgun, knife and ammunition that was found in New Auckland.

The weapons and ammunition were found on Friday afternoon by a Gladstone Regional Council worker who was mowing lawns near Clarance Dr.

This is near two parks, residential homes and a busy road where people travel from the Dawson Hwy through to Emmadale.

The garden worker noticed the laptop bag they were in and once he looked inside found the weapons.

He handed them to police.

Queensland Police Service is now calling for assistance from the general public to find out as much information as possible about the weapons and how they ended up unattended in a public space.
