THE Block contestant Kingi may not have started renovating houses until after his move to Townsville at age 17, but things all started for him in his home suburb of Slade Point in Mackay.

Kingi attended Whitsunday Anglican College and St Patrick's College, and his parents still live in Slade Point.

"I don't get back as much as I'd like to, I've been busy at the moment, but I'd like to get back soon and see Mum and Dad," he said.

The renderer has always had an interest in home renovation, but being on The Block has been a completely new experience.

"I like having older houses and doing them up, but the scale of building a $2 million apartment, I'm pretty new to that game," he said.
