Sun shines on Eidsvold’s athletics day

EIDSVOLD State School held its annual athletics day on Tuesday, July 18.

School sport teacher Ali Highet said the day went well.

"We had a lot of participation and parent and community support," Ms Highet said.

"We were just really happy that parents came out and were cheering on the kids all day."

Students from prep to Year 12 competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and high jump events on the day.

"Our kids were strong athletically," Ms Highet said.

"We had an age champion for every age group which was awesome."

Ms Highet said she had worked on organising the event for a few months.

"I've been working on this since the last couple of weeks of term two," she said.

"That's when I started organising it.

"I'm so glad we did it, it all worked out.

"Everything worked out in the end so it's all good."

Junior winners from the Eidsvold carnival will go on to compete in the District Athletics Carnival at Mundubbera State School on July 22.

Boynewood State School, Binjour State School and Monogorilby State School will also compete, along with Mundubbera State School.

Events start at 8.45am.
