Swede storms home to claim Nedbank Challenge
GOLF: Sweden's Alex Noren produced a scintillating final-round 63 to win the Nedbank Challenge at Sun City in South Africa by six shots.
Noren was six shots behind overnight leader Jeunghun Wang at the start of the final round, but managed eight birdies and an eagle for the lowest round of the tournament.
"It was one of those rounds, the round of my life,” Noren said.
The 34-year-old Noren moves into the top 10 on golf's world rankings for the first time with his fourth European Tour win of the season.
After a 64 on Saturday, Wang compounded his nerves with errors to card a 75 to close.
Australia's Scott Hend looked set to be in the big money, being one-under after three rounds, but an eight-over final-round 80 left him on seven-over par in a tie for 44th.
Hend had double-bogeys at the par-four third and par-five 14th, as well as a triple-bogey at the par-four sixth.
Noren is third on the European money list and has an outside chance of capping a fantastic year by becoming Europe's leading golfer himself.
"This is out of my mind, I'll just try to play some good golf next week and we will see what happens,” he said.
