Second teen charged over crash which killed Hope Dell

A SECOND 18-year-old Little Mountain man has been charged following a fatal traffic crash in Caloundra West.

Caloundra High School graduate Hope Dell's life was cut short when she was killed in the crash at Caloundra Rd, on December 11 2014, just two weeks before Christmas.

It will be alleged at about 9.55pm, the man was driving a vehicle travelling west on Caloundra Road and was racing with another vehicle which left the road and hit a tree near the Daniel Street intersection.

Dell died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man is expected to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 8 charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst excessively speeding whilst taking part in an unlawful race.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.

EARLIER: A TEENAGER allegedly street racing moments before his car was involved in a fatal crash in 2014 killing his friend and front seat passenger has been charged by police.

Police today charged an 18-year-old Little Mountain man with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while excessively speeding while taking part in an unlawful race.

Ms Dell, described as a popular student with a promising future.

The car allegedly involved in the street racing was travelling in the westbound lanes of Caloundra Rd just before the Caloundra Airport - Daniel St roundabout, when it crashed into a tree.
