Teenager critical after horror Coast crash

 

TWO people are fighting for their lives and eight people have been taken to hospital after multiple crashes on the Gold Coast overnight.

A crash involving a motorbike and a car in Surfer Paradise overnight has left a Gold Coast man in critical condition.

Around 12.30am Sunday morning a Toyota Prius travelling north on Ferny Ave collided with the southbound motorbike at the intersection of Cavill Ave.

Paramedics, including critical care and high acuity response unit were called to Ferny Ave at 12.32am.

The rider, a 30-year-old Surfers Paradise man, had facial injuries and was transported in a serious condition to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The driver of the Prius, a 24-year-old Surfers Paradise man, was the only person in the car and was not injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.

Earlier in the night at Currumbin Waters, four teenagers were injured after their vehicle crashed into a pole on Guineas Creek Rd and Wilpark Crescent at 9.50pm.

Paramedics treated all four patients were treated at the scene.

One of the teens received a serious head injury while another was transported in a critical condition to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Another boy was initially trapped in the vehicle but the windows were smashed, freeing him.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The other two teenagers were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution.

A further five people were taken to hospital all in a stable condition with minor injuries after a series of other minor crashes through the night.
