There's no ducking the issue for Kiwis
SOMEONE throw the Black Caps some bread.
The side has now recorded 17 ducks in India as it continues to search for its first win of the tour.
Going back to the warm-up game against Mumbai, on 17 occasions a New Zealand batsman has failed to trouble the scorers, while the Black Caps opponents have produced just three ducks.
New Zealand players combined for 12 ducks in the 3-0 test series defeat, six of which came in the final test in Indore.
Ross Taylor, Luke Ronchi and Mitchell Santner all recorded scores of zero in the opening ODI defeat overnight as New Zealand were bowled out for 190 in the 44th over.
For Taylor it was his third duck of the tour and his fourth going back to the second test against South Africa in August.
His ninth duck in ODIs still leaves him well behind Daniel Vettori who has the most for New Zealand with 22.
Ronchi's sixth career ODI duck sees his struggles with the bat continue in the 50-over game.
Since scoring 170 not out against Sri Lanka last year, the Black Caps wicketkeeper has averaged just 12.79 with the bat in 26 innings, 16 of which he has failed to reach double figures.
The Black Caps face India in the second ODI on Thursday night.
