Tools down as The Block teams deliver final rooms
IT'S officially tools down for The Block teams after three months of hard work.
The five couples delivered their final room reveals of the season tonight, completing the show's technology-filled challenge apartment.
Melbournites Julia and Sasha were awarded a perfect score from the judges, plus special guest judge John McGrath, for their sleek kitchen.
The women bounced back after receiving particularly harsh feedback from the judges for their grey children's bedroom.
The judges had nothing but praise for their luxurious kitchen with illuminated island.
"Someone is going to fall in love and they're going to stay in love," Neale Whitaker said.
Will and Karlie, who had yet to win any money off their reserve, finished second with their lush courtyard space.
"What a luxury this back area is; it's so stunning," Shaynna Blaze said.
Darren Palmer agreed, declaring it one of the highlights of the challenge apartment.
Dan and Carleen finished third for their mediocre living and dining spaces, which the judges called "soulless" and "half baked".
"There are some elements that salvage it to some degree but they don't pull it out of the fire," McGrath said.
Failing to win any more money off their reserve prices were fourth-placed Kim and Chris and chumps Ben and Andy.
Kim and Chris struggled to finish their entry, hallway, laundry and powder rooms with the other teams needing their hallway for access to their own spaces.
"This feels like a panic to me," Blaze said. "I'm very underwhelmed."
Ben and Andy received some of the lowest scores of the season for their cold guest bedroom, which didn't tie in with the rest of the challenge apartment.
"Sorry which Block am I on? It feels really cheap," Blaze said.
McGrath agreed, guessing the boys had enough money to spend but just spent it poorly.
The teams can now look forward to reaping the rewards of their renovations when their apartments go under the hammer in Sunday's grand final.
