Two airlifted to hospital after crash near St Lawrence

UPDATE:

The two patients were discharged from hospital on Saturday a Mackay Base Hospital spokeswoman said.

 

EARLIER:

RACQ CQ Rescue airlifted two patients to Mackay Base Hospital after a two-car collision south of Mackay yesterday.

The 12-year-old girl and 26-year-old man were injured when two cars collided head-on on a property near St Lawrence just before 4pm.

The rescue helicopter flew 80 nautical miles south to the property and arrived on the scene at 4.50pm, landing in a grassed clearing.

They crew, which included a doctor and paramedic, spent two hours on the ground with the patients before airlifting them both to Mackay Base Hospital about 7pm for further treatment.

The helicopter returned to base at the Mackay Airport at 7.30pm.
