Eight people involved in crash - four taken to hospital

UPDATE: FOUR German tourists have been taken to Bundaberg Hospital after a car crash on the Burnett Hwy.

Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Martin Kelly said the crash involved a single-vehicle "people mover"  carrying eight German tourists.

"Four patients were transferred to Bundaberg Hospital - one with serious chest and leg injuries," Mr Kelly said. 

He said the patients were transferred later in the night because of the weather. 

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the Burnett Hwy.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said only minor injuries had been reported but was unable to confirm the number of people involved.

The crash happened about 4pm at the intersection of Burnett Hwy and Powers Rd, about 3km out from Monto.

As of 5.45pm police officers were still on scene.

The Burnett Hwy remains open to traffic but caution is urged.
