Warren takes the win

GOLF: More than 80 keen golfers flocked to Mundubbera on Sunday, May 21 to compete at the Mundubbera Open Carnival.

Hailing from all corners of the Wide Bay, and as far as Yeppoon, golfers gave the competition their best shot but none could top the talent of Gin Gin golfing legend Scotty Warren.

"He is hands-down the best player in the region,” Gayndah's Steve Jameson said.

"He is just too humble for his own good, he won't tell you but he wins them all.”

Warren shot a 65 to take out the Men's A grade, 18 Hole Gross competition.

A golfing power couple, Bundaberg's Tim and Jill Marrinan took out the Men's A grade 18 Hole Nett and Women's A grade 18 Hole Gross respectively.

Judy Gibbs won the Women's 18 Hole Nett.

Mundubbera Golf Club President Lois Mesner was overjoyed with the turn out and said the conditions were great.

"The weather was perfect although a little cool in the morning,” Mesner said.

Awards were given to competitors who placed in 18 Hole Gross, 18 Hole Nett and Best 9 Holes categories, for both men and women.

Trophies for the carnival were sponsored by Mundubbera Fruitgrowers.

"A big thank you goes to the Sponsors for the day as well as the hard working Course Committee, Match Committee, Bar Staff and Ladies Catering Committee for making the day such a success,” Mesner said.

Best 9 Holes were won by Mundubbera's Christine Vicary with 33½ and Eidsvold's Matthew Murray with a score of 31.
