WATCH: Five things you need to see Ted Cruz say

In terms of actual policy positions Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have a lot more in common than you probably know.

Here are five videos which show while Trump may be the one making global headlines, Texan Senator Ted Cruz ain't too different.

1. Cruz says he would make abortion illegal.

This first video shows Cruz not just saying he's morally against abortion but outlining how he would have laws passed to outlaw it and overrule America's Supreme Court on the matter.

And while Trump made global headlines last week when he said women should be punished for getting abortions Cruz has been saying this sort of thing for years.

In fact after Trump took back what he said about women who get abortions deserving punishment a key right to life group threw its support behind the Texan.

"His (Trump's) mistakes helped Mr. Cruz pick up the endorsement of the National Right to Life Committee, the leading national antiabortion rights group," the Washington Post reported.

"After a vote Saturday by its board of directors, the group said: "Sen. Cruz is the only candidate for president who has always been pro-life, who has a 100% pro-life voting record with National Right to Life, who can win the Republican nomination, and who can defeat pro-abortion Hillary Clinton in November."

2. Ted Cruz says the fence between the US and Mexico needs to be fixed.

Here's a video of Ted Cruz telling CNN about the state of the border fence between the US and Mexico and while Trump has drawn world wide mockery for saying he'd build a wall, it seems Cruz too would like to see something happen.

3. Ted Cruz wants to abolish America's Internal Revenue Service - the equivalent of the Australian Tax Office.

Cruz's tax plan involves slashing a number of taxes and reducing income tax to levels Australians could only dream of - 10%.

He'd also scrap a number of other taxes including payroll tax and give families a complete tax break on the first $36,000 they earn.

4. Ted Cruz says there is no data to support climate change.

Anyone out there thinking Cruz was a moderate compared to Trump should realise his climate change policies are based on the idea that the entire thing is "fabrication."

5. Ted Cruz is a good chance of becoming the next US President.

Now that he's won the Wisconsin primary Cruz is at least a fighting chance of becoming the Republican nominee and if the US votes conservative at the next election - which there's a very good chance it will - you're looking at the most powerful man in the world.
