Located in the north west of Turkey, Istanbul straddles the Bosporus Strait a 31-km-long waterway that connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara.
Interestingly, Istanbul is the world's only city to occupy two different continents. The western part of the city lies in Europe and the eastern part is in Asia.
